My family and I had the pleasure of visiting South Texas Maize in Hondo, TX. **In return for this review I was given general admission tickets to visit South Texas Corn Maize. All views and opinions are 100% mine and genuine!** It was the perfect activity for a fall Sunday.
As soon as we arrived we could smell all the foods they had cooking. We hadn’t had lunch so we ordered some burgers, beef tacos, and kids chicken plates. Every single food we ordered was hot off the grill and delicious! The kids got souvenir cups which is a huge plus for them! While we ate our food we enjoyed the musician playing country songs, kids songs, and playing his harmonica near the picnic tables.
Once our bellies were full we had the energy to conquer the corn maize. My kids chose the ‘sports’ questions to get us through the maize. We got a little lost at first but that is to be expected in a HUGE maize with your kids leading the way. Once we got the hang of it we were making mostly correct turns!
Right near the corn maize is the corn poppers where children can take their turn jumping on what looks like a huge pillow. They have two…one for older kids and one for little guys. My kids would have stayed on these all day.
We followed all our their jumping fun with a ride on the cow train, playing at the little park, and visiting the goats. My kids also loved the slides! And older boys took turns at the corn launcher.
Right before we left we took a hay ride around the property. On our ride the tractor driver told us that the bus that had just pulled up was from the Wounded Soldier project and South Texas Maize was giving each of the soldiers and their family a free day at the corn maize!! What a great gift to give to amazing people!
My kids were disappointed that they didn’t get to go on the HUGE slide but we assured them next year we will buy them passes to do it. Other than that they had not one single complaint but lots of praise about the maize! It really was such a great place for anyone to visit! I recommend you going if you haven’t already. You can find their days, hours and prices on their website The South Texas Maize PLUS follow them on Facebook … they host lots of ticket giveaways!!
